Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society will meet virtually at 11 a.m. Saturday for a talk, “New and Upcoming Projects from Virginia Untold.” The talk will be given by Lydia Neuroth, project manager for the Virginia Untold project at the Library of Virginia.Virginia Untold: the African American Narrative, provides digital access to records that document some of the lived experiences of enslaved and free Black and multiracial people in the Library of Virginia’s collections.
Neuroth will describe newly digitized records available through Virginia Untold including several “Free Negro Registers” from various regions of Virginia as well as future digitization projects that might aid researchers and genealogists. She will also give a project overview, demonstrate conducting searches in different databases, and discuss outreach and engagement opportunities for the project, a notice said.
