Virginia Ellen Haynes Montgomery, 86, of New York, New York, passed away on June 4, 2023. Virginia was born on August 31, 1936 in Mathews, Virginia. Her parents were Clare Virginia Miller and Jennings Wade Dorsey Haynes.

Virginia was a graduate of Mathews High School and Colorado University. She lived for over 63 years in New York City
Virginia was married on November 23, 1985 to her husband of 37 years, John A. “Tony” Montgomery.

She was predeceased by her husband, Tony, and brother, Frank, and survived by her brother, Jennings; sister, Sylvia; stepson, Chip (daughter-in-law Dede) of London, England, and their three daughters.

Virginia had a long and successful career in public relations and advertising and started her own agency, the Southern Connection. She worked with “Kenneth,” known as the world’s first celebrity hairdresser on his cosmetic line. And Virginia was President of Montgomery Communications focusing on luxury travel.

Virginia was a gourmet cook, a voracious reader, an accomplished writer, and a seasoned traveler. She constantly pursued new horizons and was always seeking knowledge and adventure.

A private family memorial was held at Christ Church, Greenwich, Conn. In lieu of flowers, please donate to ASPCA.
