Vincent James Battisto Sr., 84, of Hayes, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 10, 2013, with his family at his side.
Vince was born Oct. 31, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1957. He was married to the love of his life, Sylvia Deal, for 60 years. He worked retail and was later manager for Lockwood’s Carpets for 30 years.
Other than his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Debby Lockwood and husband Jim; his son, Vincent Jr.; grandchildren, Rose Battisto, Lee Lockwood and wife Elishia, John Walker, Amy Hall and husband James Lee; great-grandchildren, Arabella, Dustyn, Zachary, Breyden, and the newest star in his eyes his great-grandchild, Paris Lockwood; sisters, Ann Mederi and Rose Marie Coxe.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Mary Battisto; father, Raymond Battisto Sr.; brothers, Raymond Battisto Jr. and Gene Battisto, and sister, Rita Battisto.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Newington Baptist Church. Burial was in Rosewell Memorial Gardens.
Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, Va., was in charge of arrangements.
