The accolades keep pouring in for Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Captain Ashley Rowe and Senior Firefighter A.J. Hamilton.
The two men, who came to the aid of a young girl who had fallen through the ice on a retention pond in the Patriots Walk subdivision on Dec. 29, were honored by Gloucester Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8252.
At a ceremony and reception at Station #1 on Jan. 23, the two men were presented with plaques by VFW post Commander Christopher Singalewitch as the pair was unanimously voted at the post’s January meeting as its Firefighters of the Year in Gloucester.
Singalewitch presented certificates of appreciation to each man and also a $1,000 check to Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue in the men’s honor.
Rowe and Hamilton have been awarded the GVFRS Medal of Valor for performance above and beyond the call of duty.
