Veterans Day dinner held at Post 83

American Legion Post 83 Mathews held its annual Veterans Day Dinner and Awards Program on Monday, Nov. 11, at the post home on Route 198 in Mathews.
After welcoming remarks by Commander Tim Roscher, veterans and guests enjoyed a meal prepared by Shelly Williams Catering of Mathews.
Jacqui Lilly, a docent at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, gave a talk on the history of the museum, the building (which is designed to look like the raising of the U.S. flag on Iwo Jima), and the exhibits currently underway. She urged everyone to stop by and spend the day there.
Roscher and Post Adjutant Morey Alexander presented continuous membership awards to the following Legionnaires:10 years—Bobby Dobson, Thomas Phalen, Mark Seavy and Brad Vedros. 15 years—James Faulkner Jr., Charles Hall, Ed Lipinski, William Noonan Jr. and Richard Sherrill. 20 years—Mike Ramsey. 25 years—Christopher Salvadori. 50 years—Edgar Adams, John Cannon, Jack Cranford, Ellis Hudgins, Charles Ingram and Robe...
