VDOT to construct turn lane on Rt. 619

The Virginia Department of Transportation was slated to begin work this week on building a turn lane from Route 619, Fiddlers Green Road in Gloucester, onto Route 17 southbound. The work is designed to tie in existing sidewalks.
Also, a pedestrian signal upgrade is planned so that a right turn on red can be performed, VDOT said.
Meanwhile, reconstructive maintenance continues on Route 216 (Guinea Road). This project is slated to last through the summer. It involves one-way, alternating traffic between Route 17 and Maryus Road.
