The Virginia Department of Transportation has announced several highway projects here and nearby that may slow your travel.
In Gloucester, the Fox Mill Run Bridge on Route 17 will undergo cleaning every day, with alternating single lanes.
In Middlesex, single lanes will alternate on Route 604, Nesting Road, while the bridge over Mason’s Mill Stream is cleared.
Major work is planned on two bridges in King and Queen County Route 619 at Owens Mill Road is closed for replacement of a bridge over Rickenaw Creek, resulting in a 10-mile posted detour. The road will remain closed until May, VDOT said.
Another bridge replacement is planned on Route 617, Exol Road, at Exol Swamp. This project, set to get underway this week, will result in a closure of approximately eight months, VDOT said.
