VDEM announces federal emergency preparedness grants

Gloucester County is set to receive $13,644 and Mathews County will get $7,500, part of more than $2.6 million in Virginia Department of Emergency Management grant funding for its Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.
The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The grant focus is on funding all-hazards emergency preparedness through planning, operations, equipment acquisitions, training, construction and renovation efforts at the local level to cities, counties and those towns recognized as emergency management jurisdictions under Title 44 of the Code of Virginia.
Through the program, the federal government provides coordination, guidance and assistance to support a comprehensive emergency preparedness system.
Grant allocation notifications will be sent to each locality through VDEM’s grants system. For more information about these programs, visit the VDEM grants webpage at www.vaemergency.gov/division...
