Van Dyke exhibit part of First Friday

An exhibit of paintings by Gloucester architect and artist Kay Van Dyke will be on display from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at Arts on Main, Gloucester.
The show includes watercolor portraits of Van Dyke’s grandchildren and abstract works in watercolor and acrylics.
Van Dyke came to Guinea from San Francisco, California in 1984, and she founded Gloucester Arts on Main in 2010. The nonprofit organization, now Arts on Main, offers a space in the village for artists and the performing arts, as well as for providing arts education for children and adults.
Live music will be provided by Jerry Sowers of Newport News, an acoustic folk singer/songwriter who teaches music at Phillips Elementary School in Hampton. He is also a choir director and board member of Tidewater Friends of Acoustic Music, and he performs at venues in Virginia and surrounding states.
This First Friday event is free and open to the public, with beer, wine and food available for purchase.
