Nearly three quarters of all Three Rivers Health District residents ages 65 or older have now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, Medical Director Richard Williams, M.D., said Monday in his weekly press briefing, and 46 percent of the entire eligible population of the district has received at least one dose.
Williams said 75 percent of all eligible adults in the district will be completely vaccinated by late May if people continue to participate. But, he added, vaccine demand is “dramatically falling.”
“As demand for vaccination falls,” said Williams, “we will see increasing outreach efforts to vaccine hesitant populations and communities.”
The district advanced to Phase 2 of the vaccine rollout on April 12, while the rest of the state moved to Phase 2 on April 18, he said. By early this week, he expected that everyone in Three Rivers who initially signed up for Phase 1 of the rollout will have been contacted.
