Next week is National Influenza Vaccination Week, and the Three Rivers Health District urges everyone to get a flu shot to protect against the contagious respiratory illness.
Young children, adults 65 or older, pregnant women, and those with an underlying condition such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease are considered at high risk for contracting and becoming severely ill from the flu virus, said the Three Rivers newsletter. Local health departments provide the flu vaccine and other vaccines, including COVID-19. Vaccination clinics will be held at the Gloucester Health Department on Dec. 19 and 29, and at the Mathews Health Department Dec. 1 and 20. A clinic scheduled for Dec. 8 in Gloucester has been cancelled.
