Mathews County’s VA250 Committee held its initial meeting with Virginia Tourism Corporation’s destination development manager Laura Messer, third from right, last Tuesday in the Chesapeake Bank community room. The committee will develop and oversee activities in Mathews associated with the statewide celebration in 2026 of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
