Tyler Wood pitches perfect game for GHS

Gloucester looked to put the skids on a two-game losing streak as it faced Denbigh last Thursday in the final Peninsula District game before the spring break. The Dukes, reversing a trend in their pair of losses, got the offense going early and prevailed with a 10-run shutout on their home field.

Tyler Wood on the mound and the Gloucester defense shut down the Patriots with multiple three-and-out innings, while the Dukes’ offense went to work. Brian Belvin scored in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Hector Rios and Josh Martin scored in the fourth after stealing two bases to reach third and coming home on a single from Anthony Morande to make it 2-0.

A plethora of runs would arrive in the fifth and sixth innings. Michael Clements, Adam Baldwin, Jacob Houston, Martin and Belvin scored in the fifth, with two RBIs each from Houston and Baldwin and one from Rios. Clements, Ethan Sabo, Baldwin and Houston scored in the sixth, with an RBI credited to Baldwin.
