Two GHS wrestlers win district titles

Two Gloucester High School wrestlers earned titles Saturday during the Peninsula District Wrestling Championships at Phoebus High School. Gloucester’s Gil Owens at 145 and Devon Pullen at 170 won gold medals in their respective weight classes. Both defeated Hampton wrestlers by decisions in their title matches.

Hampton took the team championship with 203.5 points, Phoebus was second with 203 and the Dukes were third with 197. Warwick was the fourth-place team with 171 points.

All of the GHS starting mat men placed fifth or higher in the tournament and are headed to the Eastern Region Tournament Friday and Saturday. Anthony Monahan at 106 and Levi Reeves at 195 won second-place medals in the PD Tournament and third-place medals went to Cecil Osorio at 126, Jordan Schaal at 132, Robert Leso at 160 and Landon Smith at 182.
