Gwynn’s Island Baptist
Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church will celebrate its 150th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 6, and has invited the public to join the occasion.
The celebration service will begin in the church’s sanctuary at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall.
Pastor of Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church, the Rev. Dr. Edward Jordan, who just completed 10 years as pastor, will deliver the morning message. Special guest Eddie Heath, Director of Missions for the Mid-Tidewater Baptist Association, will also deliver remarks.
The service will include musical selections from the church’s praise band, Island Praise, Hunter Owens, Heather MacKenzie, Michele Thacker, and Tyrone Hudgins, with Kathryn Diggs at the piano.
As a memento of the occasion, a Christmas ornament featuring one of the church’s stained-glass windows will be available for the purchase price of $20, which covers the cost of its production.
