Turkey Trot

The Mobjack Rowing Association hosted a record 96 participants at its 16th annual Turkey Trot at Williams Wharf last Thursday. People came from as far away as Rhode Island, Colorado, South Carolina and Maryland to run, bike, walk or stroll the 3.75-mile course from the wharf to Town Point Landing and back. The start sounded at 8:30 a.m. with Cameron Stearns taking the top male runner finish (under 20 minutes) and Kayla Stearns was top female. Trotters ranged from 3 months to two at 75 years old. Mobjack Rowing had 17 current or alumni rowers participating in the Thanksgiving event. MRA collected a small truckload of canned and non-perishable food for distribution to those in need by Hands Across Mathews. “This is my 16th time hosting the Trot,” MRA president Tim Ulsaker said. “We have come a long way from the 12 original 2007 participants and seeing 96 this year shows a heartwarming tribute to MRA and Williams Wharf for providing this activity to our community.”
