The European ensemble Trio Agora will perform a free concert at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at Abingdon Episcopal Church, 4645 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester. The concert is sponsored by Severn Sounds, a newly-established arts organization in Gloucester.Trio Agora performs new music from classical traditions, said a press release. The upcoming concert will feature pieces that have been heard recently in Europe, but never before in the U.S. One piece is a world premiere.
Consisting of Žilvinas Brazauskas on clarinet, Natania Hoffman on cello, and Robertas Lozinskis on piano, Trio Agora performs regularly in Lithuania, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Hungary, and Spain. It was the first prize winner of the 2018 Rubinstein chamber music competition in Düsseldorf, Germany, and was a finalist in the 2021 Ton & Erklürung and the Ysaye competitions. The group has released three albums and is the Ensemble in Residence at the National Students’ Academy in Lithuania.
