Mathews Triad’s Summer Health and Safety Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, 7138 Buckley Hall Road, Hudgins. It is open to all senior citizens in Mathews.
The program includes a talk by an AAA representative on how seniors can hold onto their driving privileges; a discussion of reducing social isolation in the senior population by Linda Hodges, executive director of Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Behavioral Health; and information about what the Veterans Administration offers to help people access services and remain in their homes by Cynthia Holifield Cohen, LCSW, with the VA in Richmond. Finally, a representative of the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office will update those attending on crime statistics, pertinent information on fraud and scams, and other law enforcement issues.
