Gloucester High School pitcher Makayla Jenkins was named the Most Outstanding Softball Player in the Peninsula Sports Club’s inaugural class of outstanding high school athletes. The PSC selected its most outstanding athletes in 22 sports encompassing all fall, winter and spring athletics. Jenkins is 17-1 on the mound for the 20-1 Dukes as they prepare for the Peninsula District Tournament final and the Eastern Regional Tournament. She was honored by the PSC during a banquet at Denbigh High School. The keynote speaker was University of Virginia assistant football coach Marques Hagans, a former Hampton High School and UVA quarterback and St. Louis Rams wide receiver.
