Guest soloists mezzo-soprano Taylor Boykins and tenor Daniel Sampson will join the Northern Neck Orchestra and a community chorus in Saturday’s performance of Too Hot to Handel: The Gospel Messiah at the Northumberland High School Theater in Heathsville.
Too Hot to Handel, a release stated, is a joyful jazz, rock, blues and gospel re-imagination of George Frideric Handel’s masterpiece “The Messiah.”
The performance, which also features classic works by Johann Sebastian Bach, is at 7:30 p.m. and will be preceded by a pre-concert talk by Music Director Michael Repper at 6:45. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at the door or online at www.northernneckorchestra.org.
