TOGA essay winners

Thomas Hunter Middle School students competed in the recent Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association (TOGA) essay contest and won three of the six awards for their 500–750-word essays on the topic “Consider the Oyster.” Recognized on Sunday at the TOGA Annual Appreciation Dinner were above, from right, Coles Christensen, second-place winner of $250, and Ayla Martinez and Grace Keel, third-place winners of $100 each. The students’ sponsor was seventh grade science teacher Jerry Ligon.
