Thrifty Spot wins $500 grant drawing

The Thrifty Spot was the winner of the $500 grant drawing held by the Mathews Community Foundation during Mathews Market Days.
In the drawing, people got the opportunity to name a local charitable organization to receive the funds. The person entering the drawing has chosen to remain anonymous, foundation board chair Ron Lambert said.
“We want to thank them for their gracious gift to this well-deserved organization,” Lambert said.
The Thrifty Spot is a special education transition program run by the Mathews High School Special Education Department to prepare students aged 15-22 years for independent living after their high school years. As a community-based program, the Thrifty Spot helps students with disabilities gain competitive and supported employment skills that will help them become active participants in the local communities.
