Three Gloucester High School indoor track athletes have qualified for the Group AAA State Indoor Track Meet Friday and Saturday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton.
Evan Wagner cleared 5’2" in the high jump to place third and qualify for the state event, at the Eastern Region Indoor Meet last week at the Sportsplex. Also headed to the state event is Khadijah Payne who sent the shot put 33’5" for fifth place in the region. Joining them in the state meet will be distance runner Kevin Speray who ran a personal best one-mile time of 4:30.44 for sixth place.
Several other GHS competitors posted personal best performances in the regional meet. Jarrell Bennett surpassed his best shot put throw with a 44’9" toss. In track events, Leah Procopi passed her previous best in the 3200 meter race with a time of 13:34.04.
