Three candidate forums coming up in Mathews

Three candidate forums will be held in Mathews in the coming weeks, beginning with the Mathews Education Association forum at 6:30 tonight at Thomas Hunter Middle School.
Teacher John Corrigan will serve as moderator, with the county board of supervisor candidates divided into two panels. The first will include candidates running in the regular election and the other panel is for candidates for the special election.
The Mathews County Resources Council will conduct a forum for Mathews County and state candidates on the Nov. 5 ballot at 9:15 a.m. next Thursday, Oct. 17, at Mathews Memorial Library.
A candidate forum originally scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club has been changed to Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the club building in Hudgins. The date was changed due to a confict with the Mathews Board of Supervisors/Planning Commission meeting. Club spokesperson Bobby Dobson said all of the candidates running for opposed seats are expected to be in attendance.
