Thomas Marion Taylor, born on November 6, 1937, passed away on August 5, 2024, at his home in Hudgins, with his beloved wife, Carolyn Scott Taylor, by his side. He was well loved as he loved well.

Tom is survived by his wife and two sons, Thomas Marion Taylor II and Edward Scott Hughes (Leah), and two grandchildren, Gwyneth Lark and Noah Taylor Hughes. Tom was the oldest of eight and when his mother died at an early age, his father married Myrtle Mae Taylor who had four daughters. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Newell Taylor, and his father, Troy Vester Taylor; also, one brother, Raymond Taylor, and one sister, Inez Taylor Hunley. He also lost one stepsister, Geraldine Brown. He is survived by his sisters, Marie Taylor Spradlin, Mildred Taylor and Linda Taylor Williams, and his brothers, Edwin Taylor and O’Neal Taylor; also, three of his stepsisters, Earnestine Atkins, Doris Brown and Sue Bray.

Private services were held on August 12 in the backyard of Tom’s home by the water where he was happiest unless he was playing music or riding his Harley Fatboy. Memorial contributions can be sent to Mathews Main Street Committee, Inc., P.O. Box 980, Mathews, Va. 23109.
