A graveside service for Thomas LeRoy “Lee” West Jr. of Williamsburg, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 in Williamsburg Memorial Park. He died Sept. 25, 2013.
He was born March 17, 1923, in Portsmouth, Va., and served as a pilot in the Navy Air Corps during World War II. In 1949 he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Perdue University. He worked 10 years for DuPont in Wilmington, Del., 12 years for Dow Chemical in Williamsburg, and 22 years for the U.S. Navy Dept. in Portsmouth and Yorktown. He was a former resident of Mathews County.
He was a member of Williamsburg Baptist Church, serving on committees and the Board of Deacons for 15 years. He was also a member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge #6 and had been a Mason for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elsie, and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Leota Brown West, and a son.
