Thomas James Store reopens

MCHS President Reed Lawson, at right, speaks at a Mathews County Historical Society members’ reception on Friday to celebrate the reopening of the National Historic Register Thomas James Store in Mathews. The store, the earliest part which dates from 1820, was rehabilitated including lifting and structural stabilization of the building in a months-long project. The store opened for the season this past Saturday and is open for self-guided tours every Saturday through October. For more information, visit mathewshistory.org.
