Thomas Clarence “Man” Haywood, 68, of Hayes, died Sept. 10, 2013 at his home.
Man was a Gloucester native and retired from civil service. He was a master brick mason, general contractor, and owner of Top Cat Masonry. He learned the brick trade at a very early age, carrying on a tradition that started with his grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Haywood Sr.; mother, Marie S. Haywood, and brother, Donnie Haywood.
He is survived by his wife, Doris M. Haywood; son, Brian Haywood; sisters, Barbara Wright and Janice Florence; brothers, Frank Haywood Jr., Harry Haywood and Larry Haywood; grandson, Brian Haywood Jr., and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bill West will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
