Thomas A. (Parky) Parkinson of Cobbs Creek, Va., passed away on Nov. 21, 2011 due to a long time of failing health.

He was retired from Dominion Virginia Power and previously was a Superintendent of Virginia Department of Transportation in Mathews, Va. He was a member of the Mathews Lions Club, and enjoyed many friends he made over the years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betsy; his daughter, Kim Nichols and her husband David; his son, Steve Parkinson and his wife Marianne; three grandchildren, Kendall, Sarah and A.J.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Bohannon, Va., with a reception following at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 628, North, Va. 23128.
