A funeral for Thelma Booth Stokes, 94, of Gloucester, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Ordinary. She died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011.

Mrs. Stokes was a native of Gloucester County, and a member of First Baptist Church. She was born Oct. 23, 1917 to the late Alden T. and Etta Driver Booth. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, and a son, Robert Reginald Stokes Sr.

She was employed at Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Gloucester Point, for 24 years.

Survivors include sons, Harold Dean Stokes Sr. and Alden Jerome Stokes; daughter, Rosalind Paulette Austin; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

A wake will be held from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the church. The Rev. Walter Roy will conduct the funeral service. Burial will follow in Gloucester Field Cemetery.
