The Rev. Dr. Ed Walker, pastor of Bellamy United Methodist Church, was appointed as the next convener of the Jubilee Churches of Gloucester at the organization’s August meeting. Walker follows the Very Rev. Scott Parnell of Ware Episcopal Church, who founded the group in July of last year.
The Jubilee Churches of Gloucester is a coalition of 17 Gloucester churches that have committed to work together to prevent individuals in the community from becoming homeless. In addition to collaboration and partnership with other social service organizations, the churches have provided over $35,000 in financial support in the last year.
