The corn is high

If not for the human race that developed corn we would not be enjoying the corn we love today. Its cultivation was human dependent, as corn is a plant that does not exist naturally in the wild. It can only survive if planted and protected by humans.
Historians believe the people of central Mexico began developing corn some 7,000 years ago. It was started from a wild grass called teosinte. The first corn looked very different from our corn. Kernels were small and not aligned on the cobs.
Over thousands of years Native Americans purposefully cultivated teosinte into a larger, closer kernel agriculture product and called it maize. The first European settlers learned from them how to use corn; they began planting, growing and developing this life-sustaining product, bringing us to what is now enjoyed.
Today there are many kinds of corn. The most common are flint, dent, sweet, and popcorn. Flint, also known as Indian corn, has a hard outer shell and kernels of a large range of colors.
