People lined up before 9 a.m. Saturday to take advantage of Chesapeake Bank’s “The Buck Stays Here” pop-up event at the Mathews branch for a chance to purchase $50 Visa gift cards for $25 (limit two per customer). “The Buck Stays Here” holiday campaign is designed to help its customers find and support small businesses in the community and it didn’t take long for this pop-up to sell out. The Mathews County Economic Development Authority, Mathews County Visitor and Information Center, and Xtra 99.1 FM WXGM helped make this possible. Additional pop-ups are planned locally at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3 on the lawn of the Tabb House, 6596 Main Street, Gloucester, and 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at The Point Shoppes, 1747-1811 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester Point.
