The Mathews County School Board, at its May 16 meeting, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Mathews Chapter of the Continental Societies, Inc., for the group’s many years of support and commitment to Mathews County Public Schools. The organization has done countless good deeds in Mathews schools; from providing scholarships to earlier this month making a breakfast for all the faculty and staff at Mathews High School. “They made it so that I could go to college,” school board chairman Desmond Smith said as he presented the certificate to Lorraine Forrest, one of three former school board members in the organization (Wilnet Willis and current BOS member Melissa Mason are the other two).
