The Gwynn’s Island Civic League Foundation recently participated in the Mathews High School PTA’s Teacher Wishlist program, purchasing a supply of pencils, pens, notebooks, highlighters, glue sticks, dry erase markers and storage containers totaling $300 and presenting them to the PTA, along with donations from parents and community members. These basic items are often provided by teachers at their personal expense, said a press release. Shown, from left, are teacher Susan Sanderson, Merle Blair of the GICLF; PTA representatives Angel Ray and Brandy Hurst, Sue Mathiesen of the GICLF, teacher Julia Forrest, Lanette Beebe of the GICLF and teacher Sandra Crittenden. Anyone interested in helping with classroom supplies at any of Mathews County’s public schools should contact the school directly for current needs. For information about the GICLF and upcoming fundraising and community support, email GICLFoundationVA@gmail.com.
