“Elements of Nature,” a two-person exhibit that features works by Jon Larsen and Juli Schuszler, opens Friday at the Tappahannock Art Gallery, 200 Prince Street, Tappahannock. It will be on display until April 19.
The exploration of beauty of nature is a common thread appearing in the art works of both Larsen, a multimedia sculptor, and Schuszler, an oil painter. Larsen seeks to depict our need to be integrated with our natural surroundings, said a press release, while Schuszler’s vibrant paintings highlight the beauty of nature.
The theme of integrating with natural surroundings is clearly evident in one evocative series by Larsen that incorporates smooth glass faces and organic elements such as a piece of driftwood or a stone. Other glass works are abstract designs celebrating a love for the colors and order of nature.
