The Gloucester High School varsity boys’ and girls’ swim teams competed in the Class 4 Regional Meet on Friday at Brittingham-Midtown Aquatic Center in Newport News. Swimmers Kendall Carucci, Tara Carter, Rose Kibler, Paige Willis, Auggie Baker and David Collawn competed. Carucci, Carter, Hedge and Willis earned fifth place in the 200-yard Individual Medley Relay. They also earned fifth place in the 200-yard Free Relay. The girls’ team placed fifth overall. This is the highest placement that GHS varsity swim has ever achieved at a regional meet. For the boys, Baker set a new team record in the 100-yard Backstroke. Collawn had huge time drops on both the 200-yard Medley Relay and 100-yard Backstroke to achieve new personal records. Carucci, Willis, Hedge and Kibler, above from left, show off their medals
