Suthard, Forrest among MHS track standouts

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to Charles City last Thursday for its final regular season track meet.
Nora Suthard dominated the meet for the MHS girls, winning five events (100m, 300H, long jump, triple jump and high jump). Among other highlights for the MHS girls, Jordan Sadeg placed fourth in the 100HH and fifth in the 300H. Elizabeth Moore placed first in the 3200m and 1600m. Meredith Salvadori placed second in the 400m. Adriana Forrest finished fourth in the 200m.
On the boys’ side, Donovan Forrest finished the regular season undefeated in the 110HH. He enters the post season ranked #1 in the state 1A. He also finished second in the 100m. Keith Taylor won the triple jump in a state-qualifying 41 feet. Sam Miranda finished fourth in the 1600m as did Gavin Dustin in the 800m.
Today, Thursday, May 16, Mathews travels back to Charles City for the Tidewater District Track and Field Championships.
