Susan Lynn Rose, 67, succumbed to an onslaught of blood disorders, each more dire than the one before. She passed away on July 12, 2023 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
Susan was a rarity in today’s world, an accomplished seamstress of great talent, valued by many people far and wide. A steady stream of new and repeat customers were always coming to the door.
Working from home, Susan converted her living room into a picturesque workshop where she was an artist in a studio, doing her magic on furniture, boat cushions, and clothing.
Along with her talent, Susan had a shining personality that made her beloved by so many.
When aplastic anemia felled her in 2002, the community rose up with generous contributions that enabled her to receive a stem cell transplant from her twin sister, Sandra. Unfortunately, blood disorders leave one susceptible to other blood disorders, and 20 years later, Susan was once again ill, this time so severely that even her healthy and athletic lifestyle could not prevail.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Raymond. She is survived by her husband, Shan; her mother, Margaret, and a large, far-flung and grieving family.
A larger-than-life person is gone from our lives. We are grateful for the excellent care she received at the Walter Reed ICU. The nurses and staff were not hospital employees. They were like family and a great comfort in the final hours.
As per Susan’s request, there will be no ceremony.
