Supporting youth programs

The Abingdon Ruritan Club showed its support for a pair of the county’s youth programs recently, presenting a $2,000 check to the Boys and Girls Club of Gloucester, and a $500 donation to Cub Scout Pack 133. In top photo, Abingdon Ruritan Club Public Services Committee Chair Raven Cash is shown presenting the Boys and Girls Club check to Unit Director Malik Chandler, at left, and Youth Development Professional Thalmus Reed, at right. In photo at right, Cash provides the check to Cub Scout Pack 133 representative Greg Baker. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula serves more than 5,000 youth on the Virginia Peninsula and surrounding communities, providing boys and girls with a place to learn and grow. Cub Scouting is a year-round program for young boys and girls (kindergarten through fifth grade) and their families.
