Supporting first responders

Abingdon Ruritan Club made a number of donations earlier this month to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office and the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue in support of the first responders and the causes they support. A pair of $500 donations to the sheriff’s office went to support the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and Shop with a Cop programs. In top photo, ARC Public Services Committee chair Raven Cash presented the check for the DARE program to Gloucester High School Resource Officer and Master Deputy Bill Skay, at left, and Page Middle School SRO and Senior Deputy Charles Johnson. In middle photo, Cash, at left, presented the Shop with a Cop check to committee co-chair Kyrstin Shackelford. In bottom photo, GVFR president Bruce Soles accepts a $3,000 donation check from Cash.
