The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday via electronic means. The meeting was requested by board chair Phil Bazzani, who said on June 2 that supervisors need another meeting to discuss how to use Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding.
The CARES Act has provided Gloucester County with $3,258,469 that must be used by Dec. 30 on qualifying projects. One suggestion was to use funds for local business relief by partnering with the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission. This regional approach to holding funds would protect each county’s money if funds were pulled back.
Also on Tuesday, the board will discuss a return to in-person meetings. It was previously suggested that upcoming in person meetings could be held at T.C. Walker Educational Center. The venue’s larger size would allow for those in attendance to properly practice social distancing.
