Supervisors special closed meeting held Wednesday

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors held a special closed meeting on the afternoon of Wednesday, Dec. 27, a meeting that was called late last week. Results of this meeting were not available at press time.
The purpose of the meeting was to hold a closed session on two matters, both of which were also included on the agenda for the Dec. 19 regular meeting. A closed meeting was held that night, lasting approximately 1.5 hours, but no action was taken afterwards.
The first topic scheduled for the closed meeting was “discussion, consideration, or interviews of prospective candidates for employment, assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, disciplining, or resignation of specific public officers, appointees, or employees of any public body,” per Virginia Code 2.2-3711 (A)(1).
