An interim report on an energy audit of Mathews County schools and certain public buildings was presented to the Mathews County Board of Supervisors during the board’s Dec. 19 regular meeting.
Abigail Weigel, program manager for Schneider Electric of Richmond, the firm conducting the audit, explained that she was there to report on the mid-term results and discuss the three main project options the company has developed. She said the purpose of the audit is to help the county tackle deferred maintenance in schools and other buildings, increase energy efficiency and lower costs, and become pro-active with maintenance needs.
Weigel gave a slide presentation showing overall costs for repairs and upgrades at three different price levels, along with the savings that would be realized at each level over time.
