Found: Between Hunt’s mill and Port Haywood on Thursday 10 a.m. a small umbrella with letter “J” scratched on the handle. Owner can reclaim by applying to G.B. Cooke, Mathews, Va.
Lost: On Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, around Mathews C.H. or between there and M.B. Garnett’s home, one breast pin set with large purple stone, (amethyst) oblong shape. Liberal reward if found and returned to The Journal Office.
Wanted: A good farm hand, man or boy; steady work, by the month. Come to the old Buchannon place, near the high school building. W.E. Mayo
