Sue M. Long, past chapter leader of the John Birch Society in Mathews County, passed into God’s hands on January 15, 2025 at the home of her daughter, Terry and Sean Devlin.

She is survived by a son, Jon Transbarger; daughter, Terry; stepdaughters, Julie Long Kilber and Debbie Long Tompson; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She will be interred in Maine next to her beloved husband, Richard C. Long. Sue will be fondly remembered by her many friends and supporters for her staunch belief in God and country, as well as her efforts in promoting good governance by adherence to constitutional values. Her influence over the years cannot be overestimated. Sue has left a legacy to emulate.
