The Bay School Community Arts Center’s Art Speaks Gallery in Mathews and Arts on Main in Gloucester will be hosting collaborative exhibitions that feature local artists over the next two months.
Ten artists from Mathews will exhibit their work at Arts on Main, and 10 artists from Gloucester will show at the Art Speaks Gallery.
The opening reception at the Art Speaks Gallery will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 28, and the show will run through Aug. 27. Arts on Main’s July First Friday event, on July 5, will open the exhibition of Mathews artists.
The two art centers have a history of collaboration, including co-hosting the 37th annual Virginia Watercolor Society Exhibition in 2015, said a press release. They share the philosophy that communities grow stronger by working together to promote the arts rather than viewing each other as competition.
