Student winners were announced in the Mathews County Woman’s Club’s Literary Contest. Those earning first place have been sent on to be judged at the district level. Winners were:

Class I (grades 1-3)—Poetry: Joshua Anthony, first; Antonio Smith, second; Jamarri Henderson, third. Short Story: Hannah Valdrighi, first; Blain Davis, second.

Class II (grades 4-6)—Poetry: Ali Haynes, first; Jade Davis, second; Jon Lewis, third. Short Story: Maren Stevens, first; Madisyn Jackson, second; Malia Lewis, third.

Class III (grades 7-9)—Poetry: Morgan Johnson, first; Nicholas Mann, second; J.W. Brown, third. Short Story: Elizabeth Ransone, first; Mark Michel, second; Greg Michel, third.
