String Quartet performs Oct. 6 in Urbanna

A String Quartet program titled “Is That A Suite or A Sweet?” will be presented by Strings and Things at 5 p.m. Sunday, October 6. The performance will be held at Urbanna Baptist Church and is free and open to the public.
The program will share the history of the musical suite with examples from familiar and unfamiliar suites, composed during different eras, a release said. In addition, the quartet will play popular songs about sweet foods, sweet people, and sweet places. The audience will hear music as varied as Handel’s Fireworks Suite and a jazzy version of “Hot Chocolate.”
Strings and Things is a network of between 20 and 25 professionally trained musicians in coastal and central Virginia. Members typically play for weddings, receptions, parties, and performances in duet, trio, or quartet combinations.
