Stephen Ross George, 75, formerly of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023 with his wife, Julie, by his side in Virginia Beach, Va.
Steve was born on March 28, 1948 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., to Douglas and Catherine George. His father served in the U.S. Army and was later employed by the Atomic Energy Commission. His mother filled the important role of homemaker. The family subsequently moved to Arlington, Va.
Steve lived the traditional (’50s and early ’60s) childhood, participating in team sports and enjoying his love of music including masterful skills at the piano keyboard. He graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 1966 and subsequently completed his undergraduate studies at George Mason University. Steve later received his MBA degree from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and enjoyed a multi-faceted career in the technology and financial services business world.
The theme of Steve and Julie’s marriage of 26 years could be summarized in one word … togetherness. Their banter was endless as both Steve and Julie shared a wonderful sense of humor. One would often find them viewing a selection from their go-to movie network, the Hallmark Channel.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Julie; step-daughters, Angela Weston and Cheryl Lambert (Bryan); grandson, Andrew Weston; granddaughter, Rachael Lambert, and sister-in-law, Meta George.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin D. George, and sister, Nancy George.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
